How to Prepare for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
At Aalto Hyperbaric, our treatments are safe, painless, and non-invasive. However, the increased air in the chamber may make you like your ears are popping. Our technicians are with you every step of the way and will offer you a variety of techniques to eliminate any discomfort. To make your hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatment run as smoothly as possible, here are some helpful tips.
1. Shower and abstain from using perfumes and deodorants during your hyperbaric oxygen treatment.
Please leave your wigs and jewelry at home as well. Keep your body as clean and natural as possible.
2. Keep your body healthy at least a couple week before your HBOT treatment.
Alcohol and carbonated beverages should be avoided for at least four weeks prior to HBOT.
3. Tobacco may block your body’s natural ability to transfer oxygen.
If you are a smoker, try to stop smoking for the length of your hyperbaric oxygen treatment. Tobacco may block your body’s natural ability to transfer oxygen.
4. Don’t arrive sick to the appointments.
A cold, fever, or flue can delay the effects of your treatment.
5. Certain medications should be avoided ahead of time.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy may affect certain medications. Consult with your healthcare providers in advance to discuss any medications you’re taking.
6. HBOT treatments last from 60 minutes to two hours.
Sessions usually last a bit longer than an hour. We recommend that you take hyperbaric oxygen therapy for an extended length of time. You may not find the benefit after 1 or 2 sessions.
